    PTTD + Hallux Rigidus

Has anyone experienced both posterior tibial tendonitis dysfunction (PTTD) and Hallux Rigidus (degenerative arthritis of big toe) at same time? My PTTD is stage 2-B and the Hallux Rigidus is advanced. My foot and ankle surgeon is recommending surgery for both at the same time in order to avoid being out of commission one time instead of two. I had PTTD surgery 11 years ago on my other foot (right). Very successful but lengthy recovery. Procedures included fdl tendon transfer, calcaneus osteotomy, Achilles lengthening. Same being recommended for left foot plus joint fusion of big toe. Due to my current work schedule, Iím trying to delay surgery for as long as possible. I have custom orthotics with a Mortonís extension for toe issue. Also have an at home PT plan. Have made shoe modifications including shoes with wider toe box and rocker bottoms. Dr says I can put things off for now. Once I start having increased lateral ankle pain, I should start considering surgery. Anyone with similar issues?

oh...well, you need to understand all the implications of that. Kitten heel height only. NO
shoe that "toes in"in any way. The toe will remain straight and at a low angle. I talked my surgeon into modifications of that and can wear a 2-2-1/2 inch heel with pointed toes. BE SURE you understand exactly all limitations....
