Worsening calf cramp one year after surgery

I had extensive foot/ankle surgery one year ago. Additionally the surgeon went into the back of my calf to "free" my achilles tendon because I had acquired short achilles tendon. I did not know he was going to do this and wish he had not. I did all the PT afterwards. My foot and ankle and calf continue to hurt today and I have lots of neuropathy on my foot.

New development that is worsening daily is my calf and foot will cramp horribly anytime that I use them for something other than walking. If I stretch or point my toes, etc, my whole calf and foot cramp up.

Any ideas what to do to help?

go see an ortho who is Foot & Ankle Board certified. If you are in a city with a pro sports team, pro dance company, major college athletic department - find out who they use and see them.

Hi, the answer is in your post- your tendons are short , extensors and flexors. My advise- do not stretch with exercises , as after the stretch tendons always shrink, creating cramps. Try to move freely, frequently, resting as needed, adjusting your foot to avoid pain, limping is ok. You must find position that gives you the smallest amount of pain, it is possible. You will improve slowly, naturally. Stretching hurts, just move avoiding pain.
