Big lump where hammertoe used to be.

is it normal to have a lump on your former hammertoe toe, toe?? I had the pin removed last week and ever since it looks than ever-----the redness is gone but the lump remains------I talked to someone who had hammertoe surgery and she said her toe STAYED swollen looking?? Something new to worry about.
