    Snowboarding/skiing post-bunionectomy

I had my 1st bunionectomy (Austin bunionectomy w/ osteotomy) in June and my 2nd (my other foot) in August. I am STILL wearing only hiking shoes (they have really good support) as any other regular shoes just aren't comfortable yet.

My husband and I are avid snowboarders though I haven't been in a few years (due to pregnancies) and am finally ready to begin again. Anyone out there post-bunionectomy resume skiing/snowboarding again with issues? Anyone who's snowboarded knows the boots can be very tight fitting and the motion of snowboarding involves a lot of heel/toe movement. Even at the gym I refrain from doing that movement (ie. lunges) because it can be uncomfortable at times.

I have to admit I haven't been doing my exercises with my feet as I should be. And sometimes I wonder if I'm really 'baby-ing' my feet too much.

Is snowboarding an activity I shouldn't do at this time? I know, I know: everyone is different, everyone heals at different rates, etc. etc. etc... what I'm wondering is: were any of you snowboarders/skiiers out there able to resume these activities post-bunioectomy and what was the outcome?

    Thanks!
