Re: Severely sprained ankle

I fell and the ER nurse practioner got an xray and told me my ankle was only sprained. Then 2 weeks later I went to another doctor and when he was checking my knee and ankle reflexes, I had NONE in my right ankle. It turned out to be a ruptured Achilles Tendon. The interesting thing is that after the initial fall (severe pain for a couple days) I noticed that there was NO pain in my ankle but my calf was very bruised. I learned that there is no way we can determine the damage ourselves (I am an RN!!). From now on I will recommend not only an Xray right away but also go to a good foot doctor ASAP for an exam. If I had gone during the few days after I fell, I probably could have avoided an extensive surgery and HUGE bill for the surgery. Hope this helps someone. Linda:wave:
