If it's painful then the doctor should have no problem removing it, unless it's hardware that needs to remain in there permanently.

i had screw removal in my dr.'s office/this was his doing-it hasn't helped,but this in office procedure was the most horriffic procedure i've ever been through in my life-i told my dr.i would have 2 babies without anesthesis before i would go through that again.he promised me that i would be the last patient to receive in office screw removal-hospital in-patient only now.sharon

A friend of mine had screw removed and it was done at a surgery center, day surgery. The surgeon didn't want to take the chance with the patient moving from being awake. It was all done in about 45 minutes and really no pain afterwards. Sorry you had to go through surgery like that, it shouldn't have happened that way. I'd sure change doctors or report the doctor to the medical board for using really bad judment and making you sufffer.
