Still having pain issues -should I get another opinion?

I am still having pain issues. I saw the pod last night, he wanted to give me a cortisone shot and I refused. I told him I would rather try massage and working the toes (big toe and second) back and forth. He agreed and wants me back in 3 weeks. I am really worried. Should I get another opinion from another podiatrist? Something just doesn't seem right to me. Is he just trying to protect himself by making "excuses" why I am still having pain? He said the sesmoid was inflamed. Now, he saws I still have pain over the 2nd incision and wants me to massage that. It still hurts on the ball of my foot. Just called pod, he called in a prescription for Lyrica - anyone ever hear of it?

Re: Still having pain issues -should I get another opinion?

dont know what to tell you chubster. i personally dont think massage is the answer, but i may be wrong. you dont say what kind of pain you are in. is it so bad where you cant walk. if it is, go see another dr. good luck-i am leaving town tommorrow for a cruise and will be gone for 2 weeks so i wont be on these boards. i know when i get back i have to make an appt with my dr because i keep getting more pain on my big toe on my good foot. i know he will do another surgery and i am scared to death. i also have very little summer shoes for this cruise and that sucks. sandals hurt, but winter shoes and boots are fine.

I have massaging my foot which seems to help; could scar tissue still be causing pain. I really don't want a cortisone shot? Any ideas, anyone?

It might be worth getting another opinion. It could also be the scars.

Lyrica is a new drug, specifically for nerve pain. Expensive and could cause significant weight gain, though.

I tried this lyrica for 2 nights, since he prescribed for me to take it at bedtime. I felt really tired afterward. I am feeling a difference with having my foot massaged. My 81 year old neighbor has been massaging it for me almost every night and it seems like it is getting better. Maybe he broke up some scar tissue that was causing me pain.
