PTTD - Black Toenails

I have posted here before; I have had over 25 doctor and podiatrist appointments for a flatfoot, PTTD, in the last year. Had all the conservative treatments to offer, and was finally told that was going to be sent to a surgeon. But, as I have learned, doctors want to try one more thing. Was sent to have prosthetics made, and the technician told my that foot was at the point surgery would have to been done, the prosthetics would be a waste. The podiatrist had placed an order for an Arizona AFO. We back to the podiatrist and told what the technician said and was told to listen to the doctor, have the prosthetics made. Last week received the prosthetics which help my ankle in walking but no improvement on the pain. About a week before getting the prosthetics, my toenails started turning black. My big toe is the worst. My foot feels as if it cut in half, most of the pain towards my toes. If I keep my foot elevated which I do several hours each day helps relieve the pain. It appears that my toenails are not as black if I keep my foot elevated. My concerning is, is it normal for toenails to turn black when someone has a flatfoot, (PTTD). Was told via the podiatrist that she want to check the prosthetics within 2 weeks after receiving it, but when I call to setup the appointment, mid January would be as soon as she check the prosthetics. On my last doctors, Dec 1, was told that another doctor needs to check the side effects of the medications and stop taking the medications until the other doctor reviews my medical records. Saw that doctor and he was to get me an appointment with another doctor who is a specialists in that department. Going to day, 100 mile drive, because no one has called about the appointment. Are all doctors getting this way? I have noticed that they have reviewed my medical insurance coverage and are more concerned about the medical coverage that my medical condition. It appears that “more pain for me is more gain for them.” I try to keep posting. Thanks
