Top of foot hurts after I move it

I am experiencing a strange pain on the top of my foot in front of my ankle where my foot bends. I am able to move my foot around just fine and it doesn't appear to be swollen. Moving my foot around isn't really painful, it's about 5 seconds after I move my foot that the pain occurs which is extremely painful. It hurts especially a few seconds after I flex my foot upwards. I am athletic and I do very rigorous workouts. Today is Saturday. My last workout was on Wednesday and I don't recall injuring my foot. On Thursday, my foot felt fine. It wasn't until Friday that my foot started hurting. I was curious if anyone had any ideas or similar experiences. I've had ankle injuries and foot injuries in the past but nothing like this. Thanks

Re: Top of foot hurts after I move it

That sounds a bit like what I went through with anterolateral impingement syndrome. What does it feel like when you squat down for a few moments?

My pain was near the lateral malleolus, the "ankle bone." It was on the right front part of my right ankle. If you looked at the bone from the side, it was around 2 or 3 o'clock, and there was a tiny little swollen area on the bone.

Re: Top of foot hurts after I move it

I can't really squat. Any weight pressure on my foot is extremely painful. I got an x-ray done but there seems to be no major fractures. I have to go back in 2 weeks incase it's a stress fracture. Other then that, the doctor had no other explanation. I am experiencing the pain in roughly the same spot as you described. Also,if i press down hard on the front of my shin, I get a delayed pain in my ankle and foot.

Delayed pain. I really don't know about that. How long have you had this? Did it start with an injury?
