    Bunion surgery with tendon cut

I had bunion surgery on both of my feet . One was 15 years ago and doing fine. The first one was done 22 years ago and the big toe has moved on top of the second toe and causes the 2nd toe to hurt.
The doctor says to correct this that he would have to cut the tendon and realign the foot. I am 68 and still working (have my own retail business). I am having pain and know I will have to get this done eventually.
Has anyone had to do this and what was the downtime? Pain level? I have really forgotten the pain from the first ones. I actually had a cast on my foot for 6 weeks. That was before drs used the boot. I would appreciate any advice.
