Unhappy Could this be Morton's neuroma?

I need to know if it is possible I have a neuroma on my second toe next to my Big Toe. There is a little round lump about the size of a large pea on the top of this toe which gets easily irritated if rubbed by closed shoes. I notice there is considerable itching on top and around this growth. It has been there for over 6 months. It doesn't look like a bunion or isn't an open sore, just red and lumpy. I attempted to buy really good orthopedic shoes at a shoe store and the specialist there said I had a hammer toe on this toe. Should I go to my HMO orthopetic Doctor? Anyone else have this same symptom? I am 66.

A neuroma would be towards the bottom of the foot and not on top and is in the soft tissue not on the bone. And you should see an ortho who is "foot and ankle board certified" only. It does sound like hammertoe.

Hi is your toe bent? It does sound like a hammertoe is starting to develop. Put bandaids or cushions you can find at the local drug store on it when you have to wear shoes. Look for shoes with a wider toe box, this should help you.
