stabbing pain in ankle?

I twisted my ankle three days ago after tripping on a dog toy. My ankle didn't hurt so I went about my business.

However, since yesterday, I've had stabbing pains in my ankle bone, that come and go when weight bearing. Sometimes my ankle throbs when I'm sitting down.

My ankle is a little bit red but doesn't seem to be bruised or swollen. At times, while weight bearing, I get little "shock' sensations through the bone…

I twisted this same ankle last March, but it was only minor.

Is it possible that I've done damage to it without bruising/discoloration or major swelling?

Re: stabbing pain in ankle?

Anything is possible and it's impossible to diagnose over the internet.

I would try rest, ice, elevation, & compression as much as possible over the next few days to see if it gets any better. If it doesn't, perhaps it's time to see a foot and ankle specialist.
