posterior tibial tendonitis

On April first I am having a subtalar arthroeresis, gastroc recession and tenosynovectomy done and I'm trying to gather all the info about it I can. But every time I try to see what the recovery is like when you get all three done I can't find anything just one of them. So what all can I expect for the recovery to be like?

Re: posterior tibial tendonitis

Not sure how similar our operations are but I just had triple arthrodesis with gastroc recession in January and am in the recovery stage. I just had my cast removed a week ago but am NWB for 2 1/2 more weeks waiting for the final fusion of one of the bones.
The recovery is the bear- cabin fever will seriously threaten your sanity. Pain is better but I have a way to go with it yet- projected total recovery time is ~ one year to be really recovered.

Re: posterior tibial tendonitis

Not quite the same. I'm not having any fusions but an implant. Thanks though!

Re: posterior tibial tendonitis

I also did have an implant due to arthritis in my foot- they were afraid my foot might collapse without it!

Re: posterior tibial tendonitis

You did have it or you got it done as well?

Re: posterior tibial tendonitis

I had it as part of my of my surgery. I had had severe PTT tendonitis - turned out my PTT was torn nearly in half...

Re: posterior tibial tendonitis

So heres a question for you. It may be hard to answer seeing as you are still nwb but can you even tell its there? I'm still not sure what to expect from any of this. I already know I'm going to go stir crazy (most time off work ive had in 8 years and its 8 weeks) I've already been informed my first 4 weeks will be in a cast and nwb and the last 4 in a boot but so far that's all I've got for the after part

Re: posterior tibial tendonitis

I can't really distinguish the new bone from the rest of what they did but as you said I am still nwb and will only be pwb when I start PT.
I am hoping for a good outcome for both me and you!

Re: posterior tibial tendonitis

I think I thought that arthrodesis always referred to one or more fusions. Thats the only part of the reconstruction that I managed to avoid.

I had: calcaneal osteotomy, cotton osteotomy , gastroc recession/ Achilles lengthening, and I think a lateral column lengthening. That said, bone work is bone work, and bones tend to knit and heal on their own schedule. Best to y'all .

Re: posterior tibial tendonitis

Yes, arthrodesis is one or more fusions. But I'm having arthroeresis being done which is just an implant. I confused a friend of mine as well since the words are so similar but have different meanings.
