Gallstone like pain after Gallbladder removal???

I had my gallbladder removed in September after suffering from gallstones for a year and a half. The procedure went smoothly and the pain was relieved instantly. However, I've noticed in the past couple days and all day today that familiar dull ache in my upper right quad that radiates around to my back below my shoulder blade. I've had no problems until now and it feels exactly like I still have a gallbladder with stones.

Now I'm concerned maybe I did have a stone or sludge left behind in one of the ducts. I don't know if it's possible to have had something lodged in one of the ducts for the last 4 months and not have had any problems until now.

Has anyone experienced anything similar after having their Gallbladder removed? I'd appreciate any advice.

I remember having that pain after. I think it is just the healing inside. Maybe some scar tissue forming etc.

I'm not a dr so don't know if this is true but I've read that you can still have stones after GB removed. The stones come from the liver. I do know people that after they had GB surgery had to go back to hospital weeks later because a stone was in the duct.

This exact same thing happened to me many years ago.

I had my gallbladder removed because it had a stone logded in the opening. About 2-3 months later, I was having almost the same symptoms and pain.

The doctor put me back in the hospital and did a scope down my throat and found out that I had 3 small ulcers. I had no idea that ulcers could cause the same pain as my gallbladder had caused.

Please ask your doctor about this possibility.
