Exclamation Living Abroad Temporarily, no access to Doctor - HELP!!

    Hi All,

I'm currently in the U.K. for the next month, and cannot see a GP unless I pay out of pocket ($150-200). At this point, I'm willing to do so, but I know that I can't afford any of the subsequent imaging or testing he/she may order me to do. Meanwhile, I have insurance in the U.S. and return January 4th. I have made an appointment with my doctor for the January 13th (the earliest I could see her), and am extremely worried about the diagnosis she may give me.

Below are the details, let me know if you or anyone you know has experienced any of the following symptoms:

    1) pain in right rib cage, right back, right mid-back along spine (kidney??)

    2) enlarged right ribs, specifically under right breasts and armpit

    3) lump in right breasts above the enlarged rib, only noticeable when laying

    4) small painful bumps along the front and side of right rib cage

    5) small painless bumps in the right abdominal area below rib cage

    6) tender area in right lower abdomen (hernia?)

    7) aching pain in general right side after consuming fats, meat, or dairy

    8) painful muscle, or enlarge kidney, on the right-side of the mid-back

    9) general feeling of pressure along the right back from shoulder blade down to the mid-back

    10) ulnar nerve symptoms in right hand - ring & pinky fingers (shaking, numbness)

    11) enlarged lymph nodes at the bottom of my right jaw - throat seems to "pop" when I swallow

    March 2013

I had what felt like a HORRENDOUS gallbladder or pancreatic attack. Intense pain radiating from my right rib cage and back - extremely gassy, nauseous, and generally felt like I was about to DIE.

Made an appointment with my doctor, who told me to get right on over to the hospital to get a abdominal ultrasound because she thought I had gallstones. Welllll, turns out I didn't have gallstones. She then advised me to eat a low-fat diet and consider getting a HIPA test when I had the funds saved up (I didn't have insurance back then, and the ultrasound cost me $1,200).

    May 2015

After approximately two years of a mostly unnoticeable dull aching side, the aching began to become more apparent in my side, my back, and my right arm. I decided it was definitely time to go see a doctor since I now had health insurance.

Went to a different doctor, and she told me my pain was "musculoskeletal" from the way my ribs grew when I was a child from scoliosis (a curved spine). I told her about the food-related pain, but she said I didn't have any noticeable abdominal or thoracic inflammation, and suggested I do some yoga and meditate. I then asked her for a breast exam, and she said she wanted to see me again in 3 months for a checkup about my side, and would do the breast exam then

Well, it's been three months, but now I'm stuck over in the U.K. with just Travelers' Insurance - the type of insurance only good at the E.R. (aka, catastrophic). I'm freaking out about all my symptoms, and am not sleeping very well.

Have any of your guys experienced any of these symptoms? I can't tell if they're all related, or if they're separate things. PLEASE HELP!!

You're probably going to have to start over at square one with bloodwork, etc but it seems the HIDA Scan is a necessity at this point as well.
