Low Ferritin/Not Anemic - dizziness

In June I started suffering from dizziness, lightheadedness, and headaches. Along came anxiety with that too! Found out I was anemic and had low iron. Started taking 325mg every other day and have been since. Symptoms improved a bit but never went away. Itís now October, Iím no longer anemic but my ferritin is only up to 9 from 7 in June. Iím still experiencing lightheadedness, dizziness and headaches. Weird pains in my body at random and fatigue. I just have this ďoffĒ feeling in my head. I hate it. Docs arenít too concerned bc I am not anemic. Seems they should do something right?

Iím scheduled for a hysterectomy on 11/6 at 36 yo bc of heavy periods being the cause. But I am so afraid of going through it and these symptoms donít improve! Anyone else with JUST low ferritin and dealing with these symptoms?

Ps. Just started Floradix and been on it 2 days. Seems to help some. Hoping it works faster than these damn supplements.

Re: Low Ferritin/Not Anemic - dizziness

Has your thyroid function been tested? Low ferritin and/or iron and most of your symptoms are common in hypothyroidism. If you have it, it can be easily treated and could even make the surgery unnecessary. It's one of the most under-diagnosed conditions there is.

If you have had thyroid testing, you can post your results (with the lab ranges) on the thyroid board for input about what they mean. If you haven't had it, you should insist on it before taking the drastic step of surgery, IMO.
