    Exclamation Help! :(

I had my gallbladder out 5 years ago, after the birth of my son.... I was okay for awhile, able to eat anything I wanted and not having many problems. But this year, all my symptoms returned like I never got the gallbladder out! I had gastritis at the same time and have been checked via EGD recently, revealed mild gastritis and bile in my stomach. Dr says its common after gallbladder removal, and that it should get better eating small meals often and taking PPI . Well, Ive been trying but constantly feel nauseous, burning stomach, actual PAIN in my middle, left AND right side, different times, burping a lot and I'm just at my wits end. It has caused me so much anxiety and depression, I don't know what to do. Dr will not prescribe me anything else, so its like I'm left to suffer I go in to him this Wed (the 18th) for a follow up and discuss my biopsy results. I am down to eating dry rice chex cereal, bananas, potatoes, and sometimes apples but no matter WHAT I eat, I'm still in pain.

    Dear mommyoftwo93,

In my own experience eating plain carbs only exasperates the problem. I don't believe this is a gall bladder issue. I had mine out too. That is a different issue.

What you may be lacking are the digestive enzymes and sufficient stomach acid for breaking down food. For me, what helped was to get digestive aids from a health food store. Often those stores have knowledgeable employees who can help us choose one to try. If one doesn't work try another.

Please DO NOT take Tums or Rolaids. They absorb digestive acid, and when we cannot digest we need an increase in digestive enzymes, not a decrease.

A side effect of taking acid reducers is inability to absorb calcium into the bones. You need digestive enzymes. A diet of rice anything, bananas, potatoes, apples, or other simple carbs causes indigestion when you don't have adequate digestive acids.

I just learned this. I have caused myself to have osteoporosis by eating Tums and Rolaids for acid indigestion. The contents mention a type of 'calcium' so I thought it must be beneficial to bones...no, not at all. My indigestion was that my body did not have enough digestive enzymes.
