    Pinched nerve or stroke?

I am a 30 year old healthy and fit female. I've never had any health issues. Yesterday I started feeling a numbness in my left hand and a slight numbness on the left side of my face, lips, and scalp. The numbness is very slight. It's been 24 hours now and with no change. I have no other symptoms. No headache, nausea, blurred vision or slurred speech. Am I experiencing a stroke? Do strokes last this long? Please help

    Re: Pinched nerve or stroke?

There is absolutely no way to determine if you had a stroke without seeing a doctor..numbness as you describe can be from an assorted number of things.

A pinched nerve is one, but doesnt usually affect the face. Neurological disorders such as MS can also cause numbness in areas of the body. (my first symptom of MS was numbness in the hand and fingers).

You should see a neurologist as soon as possible to rule things out AND to have some testing done...just an FYI, if you suspect a stroke, you should always go to the ER immediately...strokes are only reversible in a short time frame due to the nature of the medication which needs to be administered.
