    Carafate long term?

    Iíve been prescribed carafate and protonix for gastritis, can you stay on carafate long term?

    I suppose you could try to stay on Carafate long term, but I don't think it's a good idea. There's always the risk of unknown side effects. And if you need it for long term relief, it means that you did not heal. Isn't that the purpose of taking these medications in the first place, to give time for healing? Healing requires getting to the root cause which can be an infection, medication, excessive alcohol consumption and the need for various diet modifications.
