CBC Lab Results - Few atypical lymphocytes

I am a healthy 35 year old male. Throughout my whole life I have had low platelet counts. My recent lab work indicated a count of 116, which for me is in my normal range the past three years (116-135 has been the range).

All other results from the recent lab work in the CBC panel were in the normal range, but there was a comment on the report that stated, 'a few atypical lymphocytes'. I spoke to my doctor over the phone about the results and he was not concerned because my lymphocytes, WBC, hemoglobin and all other cell counts were in normal range.

Should I be confident in our discussion or seek a second opinion from a specialist? I did not feel sick or have any symptoms at the time to indicate an underlying viral infection.

    Thanks for your help!
