| Voice problems, difficulty swallowing, and fatigue
Hi there. I need some help here. I have been having problems with my voice for a while now, and it has gotten worse to the point that I have almost completely lost my voice. If I do try to talk, it is extremely painful, I get a strange choking sensation in my throat, my voice seems to not be working right, and the quality of my voice varies greatly, from somewhat normal to barely audible. I also have difficulty swallowing that is, at times, bad enough that I can barely eat or drink anything. I also have severe fatigue. Does anybody have any idea what might be wrong with me?

Could be vocal cord nodules, reflux causing inflammation in your larynx, laryngitis, etc.
See your doctor and get referred to an ENT who can take a look initially.
In the meantime, you can try omeprazole or esomeprazole to see if it helps. If yes, it's more likely its reflux.

I did see a doctor in the beginning, and they didn't find anything then. This has gotten drastically worse since then though, and I haven't been able to see a doctor yet since then. I tried ranitidine for 3 weeks at one point, but maybe that wasn't long enough to help.

I feel your pain!! I'm having similar issues. Started a few weeks ago. Hoarseness, voice cracking, and feels like something on and/or some strain on vocal cords. Gets to the point, I don't even want to talk. I feel this "something" in my throat almost all the time now.
Did your doctor send a scope down to take a look at your vocal cords?

I wonder if it's stress, which can manifest in physical ways. I would like you to try an experiment. Make yourself cry. I mean, really cry. Sob! A few years ago, I had the feeling of a frog in my throat for a while, which was making me kind of panic. I did some research and someone suggesting crying. Believe it or not, it worked! It did that time, but not for what's going on with me now. Maybe I didn't cry hard enough. I think I'll try again! Let me know how it goes?
