Feet twitch and cramp-scared!
 

Hi, my feet have been twitching and cramping for over 5 months now. I can even see the toes move because the twitches are so massive. I am 52. Anyone else ever have this? It is worse at night. Thx.

Have you had a full blood workup? Could be vitamin or electrolyte imbalance.

Back issues and nerve impingement or vascular issues can cause those symptoms...have you seen a doctor yet?

I have seen many Dr's and they are stumped. GP thought it was because of my back because yes, I have disc herniations/tears at L1/2 and L4/5. But then the back Dr. gave me steroids which didn't seem to do much of anything. Then he said "well, then it's not your back" and washed his hands of me.

Normal electrolites, normal bloods, except I did find out I have subclinical hashimoto's disease. The endocrinologist says this would not cause symptoms because I do not have a real problem with hypo yet, numbers are small. Had normal EMG at the beginning of this mess.

Yes, low potassium and other deficiencies can cause this. Also, have you got new shoes - jogging/walking/hiking? Sometimes a difference in heel elevation can cause foot cramps. Calf raises can sometimes help with that
