    LCL/Knee Problems?

    Hello,
I've been limping around on my left knee for about a week and a half now and am wondering if it will heal itself or if I need to have surgery? There is a good deal of pain in the LCL and the knee cap moves around freely. My right knee cap doesn't move, so my thought is I may have torn the left LCL so it's not holding the knee cap in place anymore. However, I would think that a torn LCL would keep me off my feet, but I have a high tolerance for pain, so I don't know. Any information on how to self diagnose LCL and/or knee injuries, and what type of treatments or cures are available would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    Re: LCL/Knee Problems?

I suggest you see an orthopedic surgeon, who may need you to get a mri done. When the surgeon moves around your leg, he/she will get some idea as to what is wrong. But the mri will show for sure.

I tore my ACL in November of last year and I still managed to get around w/o too much pain, but I certainly couldn't push off the leg the same as I use to. As a result, I finally had my ACL redconstructed this week. The whole process has taken way too long. The longer you wait, the longer it will take for you to get better. Even if you didn't tear any ligaments, you may need some physical therapy due to some damage you have. If you allow your knee cap to continue moving around like that, you may further damage some of your meniscus.
