    weak legs??!

I posted in the back problems thread, but didn't get a lot of responses. Here's my story:

I'm 18 yr. old, female. I've always had lower back problems, went to physical therapy, didnt work. Finally went to a chiropractor, took x-rays and found out that my spine was not where it should guess something happened to my neck a couple years ago to "snap" it out of place, so for the past couple of years my neck has been bending forward, so I'm 40 degrees too far forward. Since my neck is going forward, my back is trying to pull it back, so thats bending another way. Well anyways, about my weak legs.

I've been going to the chiropractor for a couple weeks now...and doing traction for my neck there. Well, lately, my legs have just been feeling "weak" kind of heavy/tired. I didn't know if this was because my spine is trying to go back into place and it's hitting nerves...or if my legs are just tired because I've been walking a lot more lately...or something else is wrong..which I don't know what it would be because I don't have any other symptoms...

If anyone has any helpful information, I would be thankful!! THANX!!!

    Re: weak legs??!

I would think if it was hitting nerves you would know by the extreme pain. If you start having numbness and pain in your legs then it could be from nerves being pinched. It could also be your body readjusting which would make you walk differently and that could cause muscle tireness especially if you are walking a lot. If the chiropractor manages to get it back realigned it will take your muscles time to readjust to the new position. Chiropractors can only do so much though. If you find that you just keep getting worse you should stop going to the chiropractor and find a spine specialist. Moving the body around can really do weird things. When I went to the chiropractor the last time which was 12 years ago I felt so dizzy when I left from the adjustments. I almost passed out. Try skipping the chiro for a week or two and see if your leg weakness goes away then you will know that was what was causing it. In my opinion any treatment for the back that causes you leg weakness could be dangerous. If you think it is just from walking a lot then then it's not a problem. If you have walked a lot before and have never had that problem before with the weakness, heavyness then it has to be from the treatments.
