    Sore throat will not go away
    Hello,

    I have had a sore throat for two weeks that will not go away. I got this soar throat from kissing a girl.

    I have never had a sore throat for more than 2-3 days. I went to the doctor and had a throat culture that came out negative. This means I have some sort of virus.

    Has anyone had a persistent sore throat that lasted more than a few days? My doctor said the sore throat should have gone away by now. I have no other symptoms at this time.

    I am super nervous.

    its probably strep, espacially if your doctor did a culture and it came out as some sort of virus. you probably need a large dose of antibac or so. ask your doctor what you should do and what exactly you have.

    It can't be strep if the culture came out negative. It's a virus and all you can do is sleep lots, gargle with salt water, take your vitamins, take some zinc throat sucks and wait.

    Five weeks later and my sore throat is still there. Any ideas what this can be?

    Take a peek at your tonsils in the back of your throat with a flashlight. You might see some white things there... These are called Tonsil Stones.. They can cause sore irrated throats... It might be whats bothering you...

    There is adult liquid tylenol. It tastes very nasty. It works great on a sore throat though. I had had a sore throat for almost 2 weeks. It has helped with mine.

    You may have a problem with post nasal drip due to inhalent allergies (stuff in the air). Have you tried an antihastimine? Also try taking 1 teaspoon plain Robitussin at bedtime. This will help keep sinus drainage thinned and throat not be sore next morning.

    You can have sinus drainage and still be able to breathe just fine and nothave a drippy nose.

    It might be mono. I had a sore throat for a while and was very tired. Did the doc test for this also?
