Sometimes in my dreams, my teeth close up very tightly

To be honest, I really don't know where to post this. In my dreams, I sometimes dream that my teeth are closed up very tightly and I can't move them. It often hurts, but it feels very uncomfortable. Sometimes I put my thumb in between my teeth to open them up, and that wakes me up. I heard that in real life this happens with you take ecstasy, but I have never done any illegal drugs.

Now, I don't mind having weird dreams, but I just want to know, does this by any chance happen to me in real life while I sleep, or is it just happening in my dream? If it actually happend to me in real life, that would damage my teeth pretty badly.

Also, I also had a dream where 4 of my teeth completely shattered. I guess the dream where my jaw closes up was just because I was thinking about the previous dream which woke me up.

If it was happening to you in reality then you may experience a dull ache in your jaw in the morning due to the constant biting down.

Well, I don't think my jaw hurts any more than usual. I have braces, so some part of my mouth pretty much hurts at all times. I didn't notice any unusual pain, though. Also, this happend to me about 5 times last night. I think from now on, whenever I wake up from the first dream of the kind, I'm just going to get out of bed.

I had "train tracks" for 3 years and its true that your teeth move the most in the night during deep sleep. This can be slightly painful, especially after your brace has recently been tightened. This is probably what is causing you to have these dreams.

My opinion is that you are not biting down in reality, it is only in your dreams (although i could be wrong). Therefore, it is nothing to worry about and the dreams should pass once the brace is removed.

Well, yes, I am keeping a secret, but its not like anybody has to know it for my safety, its just personal and I'm the only one who needs to know what it is.
