Concerned about my weight (too skinny)

    Hello all,
Currently I weigh in at roughly 118 pounds. I'm male, a freshman (9th year) in high school, and have an ectomorphic body type. Is this normal for an ectomorph (we ARE born lean...)?

Last year I recorded my weight and BMI to see how much it would change in the future.

    As of November 16, 2004:
    112~113 pounds
    Height: 5'7
    BMI 17.05

    As of August 28, 2005:
    118~120 pounds
    Height: 5'9
    BMI 17.64

Is gaining about 6 pounds normal over a 10 month period of time? If not, is it too little or too much?

I'm tired of being called the skinny kid. My ribs show!!! What do I eat and what can I do to put on some weight? Lately I've been stuffing myself at Burger King, McDonald's, and other fast foods since I hear they have fatty food full of calories.

In summary, AM I ON THE RIGHT TRACK AND WHAT CAN I DO TO PUT ON MORE WEIGHT QUICKLY??

Milkshakes during the day with each meal...and a big bowl of ice cream everynight!! If that doesn't do it, you're meant to be thin...Enjoy....people would kill to be thin and eat everything in site!! You're blessed...........

I have the same problem. I'm 17 and I weigh 116lb. I have gone to many doctors and nothing is wrong with me.

The best thing I can tell you to do is eat as much as possible. In the last 3 months I gained 5 pounds, but I'm still not happy with my weght any also hate being the skinny guy.

    Good luck!

You skinny guys should be thankful. Continue to eat whatever you want as long as it is healthy and will not cause cholesterol problems AND work on building up your muscles. A musclar body will not look too skinny.

My son was skinny and took karate (became a brown belt) to build up his strength, etc. so he would be able to take care of himself should the need arise. Not many fellas want to tango with a karate trained fella regardless of their size. Our son was a normal behaved fella and not in the rough crowd. However, he realized he needed to prepare himself for self defense if he should ever need it.
