    depigmentation around moles

About a year ago i noticed some moles on my back and stomache started to change from their usual dark color to a lighter pink color and the skin around these moles began to turn white. All together there are about 5-6 moles on my body that have done this. I also noticed random patches of my hair turning white as well as a small portion of my eyebrow where there is a small mole. When I saw a doctor about this he said that it was just vitiligo and not to worry about it but i've never heard of this being isolated to just moles or having the hair turn white as well. Any suggestions or am i jsut worrying needlessly?

I would feel better if it where me to have a dermatologist check it to be safe. That would be best then you'll know its ok or not. Better safe the sorry.

    Re: depigmentation around moles

    Hi Crash,

I also have these, i find the white around the mole gets larger with exposure to the sun, i have 1 mole which has disappeared now and i just have the white circle.
Do you have fair skin? My skin is very fair, and now put sunblock on any moles which i don't want to get white rings round!

I spoke to my doctor 7 years ago, and he assured me they were nothing to worry about.

Did your doctor say the hair turning white and the vitiligo were related?
