Finger Injury

On Monday I slammed my finger in a door. The nail immediately turned purple/red/black near the cuticle and was VERY painful/swollen. It is two days later and the tip of my finger is still swollen and of course the bruising underneath is still there. The brusing has also increased. It is no more than 25% of my nail though. Also, when I wake up it is very stiff. It does not look like there is anything broken because it is not deformed and I can bend it in completely. My parents believe I should wait a few days and see what happens. Does anyone have any experience about this?

Re: Finger Injury

It sounds like a normal progression of the bruising..seems to get worse over a day or so before it starts to get better. It is very hard to immobilise and protect your finger, but a supportive bandage can give a bit of relief from the discomfort.

Re: Finger Injury

Thanks for posting. Today is the first day I woke up and my whole finger doesn't hurt. The tip is sensitive and it is still swollen. I think it may have went down some though. Thanks again.
