I am a 34 year old mom of 2 who until my last pregnancy had a normal weight and a control on my hormones. After my last pregnancy, she just turned 3, I have gone down hill! I am on 2 different antidepressants and still have strong bouts of depression 70% of the month. I had a handle on my weight loss up until last summer. In August of 2006, I had mirena (IUD) put in and that is when the weight just started to pile on. I had it removed in Jan 07 and I am still gaining weight. I average about 5lbs a month if not more. The last pair of jeans I tried on fit, now I am about 3 sizes bigger, and I struggle to get into those. All of my weight is carried mostly in my belly (budha as I call it). It would almost be easier to say I was about 6-7 months pregnant. Since having the IUD removed, my cycles returned to normal the following month and have been regular since. So I know I am not pregnant.

Any ideas as to my I would be gaining that steadily? I have had my thyroid and other hormones checked out and it all came back normal. So between my depression and weight gain, I am at a loss

Re: suggestions/ideas?

Hi tinytoes. I recommend that you have your thyroid tested again. Ask for the Free T3, Free T4 (besides the T3 and T4) and thyroid antibodies in addition to the normal panel. They are not usually done but are necessary for a comprehensive view. Get copies of your results. Even if your results are in the normal range, they may not be optimal for you.

Thyroid disorders are fairly common. If you need help interpreting your results, you can post them on the thyroid board on this site. The people are very helpful.

Do not give up. You will find out what is wrong.
