Infections - Foot

I was doing work outside and ended up stomping a rusty nail into my foot because it went through my boot. It only went about a half inch into my foot. This was about a week ago. I had a tetenus shot before I traveled last year. My foot is hurting when pressure is put on that area but there does not seem to look of infection on the outside. Is it possible to have an infection on the inside of the foot which wouldn't show on the outside?

Re: Infections - Foot

Yup. It could just take time for it to show up on the outside. If you do have an infection, your foot will start to swell up around the puncture site, the area will become red and inflamed, hot to the touch. You will also likely start to run a low grade fever. Personally, I would get myslef into a doctor. Only because rusty nails are just nothing to mess around with....and it is hurting..which is an indication that you might be having some problems...better be safe than sorry.
