Please respond, I am so freaked out

I have not officially been diagnosed with gerd, although my general practitioner has had me on protonix and then zantac. I have been cleared by the cardiologist, but I am terrified there is something wrong with my heart. I have almost constant pain in the center of my chest on either side of my breast bone typically but about 2 weeks ago I got a new symptom, I had drank like one and a half beers and had what felt like a cramp in the center of my chest, which scared the holy crap out of me, but it only happened once and then I felt tense in my chest. It has happened a few more times since, I actually went to my dr and she did an ekg and said my heart was fine, although I have a hard time accepting that like I said I have been to the cardiologist for stress test and echo and he said was fine. Any one else have these same symptoms with the gerd, Please any would make me feel better about it. I have major heart health anxiety. I have an appt at a gastro dr on tuesday but I am having a bad day today. Thanks for reading

ryleetn, believe me, you are not alone. I've had chest pain, come and go for several years now. I did what you did and that going to the cardiologist. Had nuclear stress test, echo, blood work, everything. I do have horrible GERD.
Have had it for 20 years now. My chest pain is right where yours is. From my left side into the middle of my chest. Sometimes the pain is dull sometimes its a very sharp twinge. I also have IBS which I think contributes a lot to the pain.
The best thing to do is what you are and that is going to a gastro doctor.
He will probably do a endoscopy which is really not a big deal at all. But the test will let him check your esphogus which is important with GERD. Has the meds helped at all? Can you feel the reflux? Well good luck with your appointment on Tuesday and check back with us to let us know what he said.
Take care, Linda

I agree with have followed thru with the cardiologist, so now go to the GI specialist. A couple other things....have you injured yourself and the pain might be musculoskelatal? Might you have broken a ribs and not know it? You dont say how old you are. You do say you have heart anxiety. Is there family history? DO you struggle with anxiety in general? Good luck to you and on tuesday you may have more answers. The GI md will want to do an endoscopy in the future Im sure.
