Re: Sweating in palms
Sweating excessively is a very annoying and embarrassing condition. Hyperhidrosis or sweating excessively is a condition where you sweat profusely in situations that normally do not require excessive amounts of sweating. You sweat excessively especially on areas where there are more active sweat glands like the armpits, hands and feet. It is crucial that you know how to cure your excessive sweating problems before it controls your life.

Millions of people are affected by hyperhidrosis, if you are one of them you need to know how to cure your excessive sweating. Sweating problems can damage your social life; imagine having excessive underarm sweating even if it's not too hot. Most people are turned off when they see sweaty people. How about if your hands sweat profusely? How can you shake the hands of a new acquaintance or business partner? Another problem if you sweat excessively is that you are prone to bacteria causing body odors. Hyperhidrosis can and will ruin your social life and you must find a way to cure your excessive sweating problems.

Here are some tips to cure your excessive sweating problems

Deodorant and Anti-perspirant products. Most commercial deodorants can help cure your excessive sweating problems. These products contain aluminum chloride which helps stop hyperhidrosis. You have to use prescription or non prescription products with high level of aluminum chloride solution to cure excessive underarm sweating but you have to be careful as some products can also cause skin irritation. For areas such as the feet, palms, groin and genital area, stronger treatment is needed.

With regards to sweating and body odor problems, cleansing with antiseptic soap in combination with antibacterial creams can help solve the problem. Also consider shaving the pertinent areas as hair tends to gather bacteria and yeast, thus lessening odor accumulation.

Oral Medication. There are medicines that can help cure your excessive sweating. There are drugs available that can alleviate hyperhidrosis such as phenoxybenzamine and propantheline, both can be taken orally. Consult your doctor to get advice and prescription. Ask also the possible side effects that may be caused by the drugs prescribed.

Surgery or Endoscopic Thoracic Sympathectomy is another option to cure your excessive sweating. This will surgically remove the critical sweat glands in the armpits. Although you can find success on this procedure, side effects may include sweating excessively on back, thighs, abdomen and legs which can become a problem in the long run.

You must find a way to cure your excessive sweating problems. It is not good to hurt your life with this condition. Overcome hyperhidrosis and live a more carefree lifestyle.

Re: Sweating in palms
Hello manali,

Hyperhidrosis can be really distressing. But there IS help for it.

You mention you've had this problem since childhood. The exact cause of it is unknown, but some experts feel it may have a genetic component.

Apart from drugs, antiperspirants and surgery which BP2RC mentioned, they are using BOTOX now to help this.

This is the same stuff we all hear about that helps smooth facial wrinkles by paralyzing certain muscles. Botox injections work by blocking the nerves that trigger the sweat glands. (Not to worry, it doesn't paralyze the hands!).

It's by no means a total cure-all and it can sometimes take several injections to get the good results you want BUT each treatment results in reducing sweat for about 4-5 months.

I think a good dermatologist would be the kind of doc to see for this condition. But talk to your regular GP first.

Re: Sweating in palms
Do some research on iontophoresis machines such as RA Fisher or Drionic machines. They are a bit time consuming at first but they are effective for palmer hyperhidrosis. Botox for the palms is not always effective because the skin is thicker in that area. You can also try using Dehydral Cream which you can order on line. It may turn your palms yellow after a while but it does help.
