Very fast pulse one second, then unable to feel any pulse at all shortly after

I've never been able to find or take my pulse for some reason; I've tried my wrist but I feel nothing at all. I can feel it in my neck sometimes sort of but it's not consistent, like I'll feel the pulse when I first put my fingers there but after a second or two I can't feel anything anymore. I've been to doctors before and they haven't commented on not being able to find a pulse or my pulse being weird, so im not sure why it's only a problem when I do it. I've checked online to make sure im checking the right places, and I am, so that's not the issue.

This morning I woke up and felt like my heart was beating way too fast so I tried to take my pulse...felt nothing on my wrist, felt a bit of a pulse on my neck but it was only a "ba-dump" once every 4 or 5 seconds which would make my heart rate 12bpm if that was accurate, which I can't imagine it was. I then put my hand over my heart and felt my heartbeat pretty strongly there, beating approximately twice a second which would make my heart rate 120bpm. I got up and walked downstairs to get a stopwatch but by the time I got one I couldn't feel any pulse anymore. A very faint heartbeat over my heart which was too faint to count and nothing on my wrist or neck.
What could be causing this? I know my heart obviously isn't totally stopped when I feel no pulse, so why can't I feel it beat? And why can I feel it beat strongly for a few seconds but then nothing a few seconds later? Im a bit worried about what it could potentially mean, so if anyone could help me out I'd greatly appreciate it.

Interesting you could have a slow heart or you may have vein issues. if the dr has not said anything see a cardio. i had been told my several dr i had poor circ in my legs. support hose and all then when I finally saw a cardio he said nope, legs and circ are fine. it was the heart. i also had low potassium that gave me spams that felt like poor circ. thank god for potassium!
