Arm, shoulder, wrist and hand pain
For over a week, I've been suffering from pain in my right arm, shoulder, wrist and hand. It tends to be a problem when I'm either lying down or not sitting with my back completely straight, but the wrist pain is constant.
I haven't suffered an injury that I am aware of and it started seemingly with no cause one evening.
When I feel the intense pain which wakes me up frequently, I feel a tight pain in my biceps which fades rapidly if I sit up straight in bed for a couple of minutes.
The pain in my wrist and hand sits on the outer side of my hand and only my forefinger and thumb are free from pain. I cannot grip, but this is due to the pain I feel.
There is also a dull ache in my shoulder and elbow. Sometimes this travels to my neck, but I think that's mostly due to the way I'm sitting with the pain.
I've been taking NSAIDs (naproxen, which I already have prescribed for dysmenorreah and diclofenac which I was prescribed for a previous back injury - obviously not at the same time) which have minimal effect on the pain.
I've noticed some slight bruising on my knuckle today.
I'm not taking any other medications, although am currently on depo-provera and have no numbness in any part of my arm.
I will see a doctor, but since it is Saturday and I don't want to go to the A&E department unnecessarily, I was wondering if anyone had any ideas as to what this might be and how I can manage the pain.
