Doctor cannot figure out whats wrong with me? Please Help!

3 weeks ago I went to the doctors office because I have had knots in the middle of my stomach that I could feel, And my "old" doctor said it was muscle, Which I knew was wrong because they kept getting bigger. So my new doctor said I should go for a cat scan, The next day he called me and asked if I could come in for a complete blood test because they found Hazy Appearance of mesenteric fat (misty mesentery) with a few scattered mesenteric lymph nodes not enlarged by ct size criteria. He said he wanted to rule out I did NOT have Lymphoma. Blood test cam back and the only red flags on the blood test was RDW which was 15.0 and MPV which was 10.4. Other than that blood test looked good. His findings in the ct scan was:

1.Limited scanning of lung bases reveals minimal bibasilar atelectasis. Noplural or pericardial effusions. A 55 mm nodule in the right and left lower lobe.

2.Mild patchy decreased attenuation of liver parenchyma

3.mild Splenomegaly

43.6 x 3.9x4.4 Lobulated right renal cyst with thin sepatation

5. Question of mild hepatic steatosis

6. spleen is enlarged measuring 15.4 cm

7. Incompletely imaged fat containing umbilical hernia.

So with all of these findings my doctor said he don't know what to think by all of this because I have so much going on, So now my question is what should I do? I am scared there is something wrong going on. Please help! Thanks

Those results mean nothing to the layman. Only the doctor can interpret for you and he should have done that immediately. He should never have left you to guess like this. I would seek a second opinion if this doctor won't tell you what it all means - and he should speak in plain English to you.

Thanks Milly50, I am going to tell him Thursday when I see him I want a second opinion. My doctor says he doesnt understand what to think about the ct sacn doesn't sit well with me. Thanks again.

Good. If the doctor does not know, who does he think does? If necessary he should refer you to a specialist who can interpret the results. You have rights as a patient and you should assert yourself and tell him how worried you are.

If however, there is nothing wrong, then you should relax and enjoy your life and try not to let worries rob you of your peace of mind. Do let us know how you get on.

I can help you with some of the description of CT scan. The bottom of both lungs are not fully expanded (atelectasis). This is common and non-specific in meaning. The 2 nodules in the lower lobes should be checked out further, probably with a chest CT. The liver is mildly fatty, also a common finding, especially in overweight people, diabetics and people on steroids, but often for no known reason. There is a hernia around your belly button. The mesentery isn't mentioned, nor are the nodes. The spleen being enlarged can occur in many different conditions, and will probably be explained once the rest is checked out. The lung nodules seem to be the primary concern to me, and a pulmonologist could evaluate this further, or your Dr could at least send you for a chest CT scan. Are the nodules really 55 mm or 5.5 mm? Huge difference. The chest CT would help determine if other nodules are present, and also visualize the lymph nodes in chest. The cyst on kidney is also common finding and probably isn't a worry.
