Question Woke Up With "Wrist Drop"

I do not drink, and there was no traumatic injury to my arm. I remember thinking at first I had slept with my arm and wrist bent the wrong way. Initially the CT scan in the ER showed signs of multiple tiny strokes, but after having an MRI of the head and neck proved them to be old, and the neurologist said not of the nature to cause the paralysis in my hand.
The Dr. asked if the was any ALS in my family, but it was a 1st cousin who is younger. My Mother told me after I got out of the hospital that my Grand Mother and my Uncle both have the same type of paralysis.
Wha are my chances of recovery, how much and how long?
