Pain in upper right abdominal area

For approximately two weeks, I have had mild/moderate pain in my upper right abdomen. It is sharper when I inhale deeply. The pain is not constant, but it is present more than not. My bowel habits have been a little different, but not sure if the differences are significant or not. A few days ago, my stool appeared to be darker brown than normal, definitely not red, but dark brown with undigested food particles in it. Yesterday, my stool was much lighter, about the color of cardboard. Consistency is fine - no diarrhea or constipation, and frequency hasn't changed. I have lost about 2-3 pounds over the last couple of weeks despite no changes in diet or activity. Like most people on here, I am thinking the worst and fear that this is something horrible and life-threatening. I appreciate any suggestions and/or words of encouragement.

You might have gallbladder issues. Does this happen after eating fat? At any rate, an ultrasound would give you good information.

I haven't been able to pinpoint anything that really makes it worse. It's just kind of "there".
