| Going Bald at 19
2 1/2 months ago I noticed that a lot of my hair was falling out in the shower and the sink. I started to look closer at my hair to see if it was falling out, and I realized it was. I then marked how much hair I had and the receeding line. Now 2 1/2 months later more hair has fallen out and my hair is still receeding. I am very depressed and embaressed. I do not know what to do! I have not got a hair cut in 2 months because I know when I do, people will notice my forehead has gotten bigger. I AM ONLY 19 YEARS OLD! And could I have tyhroid problems?
I made a dermatologist appointment and I am waiting to go there. Also, in the last 3 month I have had very bad drandruff, with large flakes. Please send advice.

First, make sure you are getting enough iron and B12 and zinc.
Try a shampoo with no chemicals in it like Aubrey Organics sensitive scalp shampoo. Get some apple cider vinegar, the unpasteurized type, and put a few tablespoons of it in a litre of water. Rinse your hair with it after you shampoo. Selenium supplements help with dandruff. Silacea Gel helps hair loss. It is a colloidal silica supplement (tissue salts) you put in juice every morning.
Best wishes.

I'm 21 going on 22 and my scalp has been very itchy as of late and I've noticed I'm getting a lot of dandruff and flakes. My hair has also been falling out of my head more than usual as well. I use a natural shampoo and take the right vitamins.
Baldness does not really run in the family both my grandfathers have nearly a full head of hair at 70 but there are a few people on my mums side that have gone bald and that's what is concerning me.
I've always had really fine hair, but as of late I'm getting worried. Though I am depressed at the moment (taking no meds) so maybe that might have something to do with it.
Do you get enough sleep, eat right and are you depressed/stressed at all?

I started taking wheat grass juice capsules (Health Matters sun grown) 5 days ago because I've seen web testimonials that it stopped hairloss in some people and even made the grays go away after a few months. My scalp is less itchy and all the guck is gone from it. About 1/3 less is falling out when I shampoo, so it seems like something good to keep taking long term and monitor.

I began going bald at 19 and started using Propecia. My hair stopped receding and actually got a little fuller. It's almost 4 years later and I'm still going strong. It's expensive, but can you really put a price on having hair? When my dad was my age he was significantly bald, and I know I would be that way now if it were not for Propecia.

Hi,
My bf started balding at 19 and was totally bald by his early 20s. He is now 32 and shaves what little hair he has left. I think it is the sexiest thing ever. Try not to be so self-consious about it. I think bald heads are sexy, look at all the people who have a full head of hair and shave it! Just wanted to let you know that bald isn't neccesarily bad!

wow.... i am 19 and i started loosing some hair...
the only treatment i am currently on is Oiling my hair and massaging it daily for 10 mins.
first two days i was shocked, i thought i was going to loose all my hair but then someone told me that when oiling, you loose all the dead hair and the new hair grows back...
after a few days i was totally surprised to notice in the mirror that new hair are growing back... but i have only one problem, they arent thick enough... not like they used to be..
anyway, Oiling regularly might help you as well....
try to mix the oils like i did..
heres what i did:
i bought Dabour Vatika Hair oil. Coconut oil with Henna, Lemon and some more stuff from an indian store.
Mix it with some pure Almond oil, Flaxseed oil and a very little amount of olive oil. |

if someone has already mentioned this , i am sorry, but have you have had your thyroid checked. if you cant think of a reason , like chemical treatments, new hair style products etc... then you might have a medical problem.
hop on over to the thyroid board and look at the symptoms chart for all the thyroid disorders (just to be safe i wont say look to look at one or another ,cause symtoms can criss cross)
you can also try biotin, good multi vit, with folic acid, and some iron., also horsetail root, can help wont make thicker but will increase growth if your one of the lucky ones it works for. but get your self to the doc first.

Well I went to a hair specialist dermatologist and she thinks it is heredity hairloss. She prescribed me propecia and also told me about rogaine. i bought rogaine today and i think it looks like a joke. I am going to somehow and try to afford propecia. I love my hair, i do not want to go bald. it would be too much for me since i am in college and all.
any comments about propecia?
