Question Hair loss in a 6 year old

Hi - I'm new to this foum. My six year old daughter has been experiencing hair loss over the last six months. She has lost more than half her hair and I've had to cut it as its become straggly and stringy. It looks healthy, but I'm worried about alpecia or other underlying conditions that could cause this in someone so young. Has anyone else had this happen or have any ideas why?

That is happening to my 4 year old also. She use to have a huge ponytail but now I noticed her ponytail isn't as thick, it looks like she has lost about hal of her hair also. It's also stringy and dull. It use to look so soft and shiny. I pulled back her hair on the sides and I can see her scalp in lots of areas but not on top, I have an appt with a specialist in Nov. I'll let you know so you can see about your little one. I am thinking she is deficient in some vitamin maybe iron or has a food allergy to something, she's also constipated alot and complains about tummy aches.

It's definately a sign something is wrong, children should have healthy hair. Good luck.

Thanks luvmakeup - I have an appointment with the dermatologist on November 3rd. I'll let you know what the diagnosis is, or what further steps I need to take to help my daugher.
