 Hair loss/fluctuating iron low ferritin- FRUSTRATED!!
I am a 41 year old female suffering with hair loss, major fatigue and joint aches/pains. In over a year of complaining finally some lab results offered some clues. Only they are totally confusing and contradictive.
My first serum iron levels were high, while my ferritin was too low. There is no way I am taking in too much iron as I am a vegetarian and should be lacking in iron if anything. Docs said it didn't make sense and suspected Hemocromatosis and wanted to retest my iron a month later.
So they retested my iron and now my serum iron is at the lowest standard range and has dropped quite a bit and now my ferritin is even lower at 12. I'm not sure whether to think I am Anemic or have Hemocromatosis?
Anyone having these same problems?
