is it possible to gray hair to "stall"?

I'm 22, About a year ago I noticed a few gray hairs here or there, not a lot. Anyway, a year later there doesn't seem to be any more or any less... is it possible that it will just take a long long time to become a problem?

Everyone I know has had pretty noticeable changes occur in a years' time..
