    feel drunk for months

My head feels disconnected from the world. Pressure-filled. Cotton-like. Floating. Existing in a fish tank. As if my consciousness has tunnel vision. Not accurate descriptions, but the best I can come up with. Hearing and vision are not affected in that they don't seem muffled or filtered or blurry.

I feel off-balance in the space I occupy, but I'm always able to walk in a straight line. I sometimes feel like I may fall over, but I never have. I feel like I'm walking on a ship. This sensation is almost non-existant when lying down. I sleep well.

Frequent dull headache in temples or crown. If especially bad, the crown headache will last for days-straight with a fuzzy or tingly sensation on scalp.

Sensitivity to light, especially fluorescent lights. Walking around a box store sometimes makes my head feel like it's being jackhammered.

    Stiff neck.

Pressure between/behind eyes. No pain in eye itself. It's the sensation you get when you cross your eyes. Making eye contact with someone who is standing a few feet away is difficult. The space between my eyes aches.

My vision is fine, though it sometimes feels like I have to work harder to focus on objects in the distance; that my eyes won't naturally do that without consciously directing them to.

It sometimes feels easier to look at objects in distance if I cup my hands around my eyes and block out peripheral light.

The uncomfortable feelings mentioned above are daily, having lasted the past few months, though the degree to which they are uncomfortable can ease or worsen with seemingly no explanation.

Blood is fine. Neurologist's exam in April 2008 was fine. He suggested an MRI would not reveal anything; that this would all go away. It did go away for a few months but then returned in December. Recent opthamalogist visit showed no retina issues. Visit with chiropractor showed no TMD. A couple medical friends think it sounds not "structural" but "metabolic."

These sensations are all-consuming. They give me anxiety and depression. They make me paranoid I'm experiencing other symptoms. They make me want to retreat from the world and rest.

Anyone with similar issues? Any thoughts?

Where you stated Neurologist exam in 2008 was fine- did you mean 2018?

Most of us see a neuro every 6 months because things can change that quickly if we are not dx with anything. Your description sound almost exactly like I felt prior to finding out I had MS...

If you have not seen a Neuro in the past 6 months, you need to see one and request a MRI of the brain...

    You're correct. That was a mistype. I meant 2018.

I saw a neurologist in April of 2018. He tested reflexes, balance, looked in my eyes, etc. He said he was 95% certain an MRI would reveal nothing useful. He told me to take pain medication for the headaches and assured me I would feel better soon. I did almost within a week and continued to feel fine until December.

I've read lots of old posts (from years ago) from folks complaining of similar issues who had gone to see every kind of specialist and had every kind of test, including an MRI. Nothing was ever discovered. Because of that, because of what the neurologist told me, and because my opthamalogist friend and his neuro-opthamalogist colleagues told me that no symptom described would indicate anything structural was amiss, like lesions, I'm hesitant to get an MRI. If it were ten bucks, sure. But the price tag for a test that everyone else has indicated likely won't show anything is holding me back.

Did you have additional symptoms? Anything different from mine?
