constant headache began as back pain
I hope someone can help me with this strange problem I am having.
About two weeks ago, after moving, I began to have lower back pain that kept me up at night. Two days later I was diagnosed with a sprained back and put on muscle relaxers, pain meds, and anti-inflammatories.
Then, in the day or so following (perhaps coincidence) I began to experience pain in my left shoulder and neck. This has been accompanied by a constant headache. The pain (even the headache) is always worse on the left side.
After this continued for a week, I was reffered to a neurosurgeon. I saw him today. He has scheduled me for an MRI on Monday. He is not sure what the problem could be. Without looking at the MRI he can only suggest that it may be a particular type of migraine that, strangely enough, is more common in men.
I have never had problems with headaches until now, but this headache has not let up for eight days now. I wake up with it and go to bed with it. Having tests done on my brain scares me. I keep thinking of Kindergarten Cop - "It is not a too-mah!" I don't think it is anything that serious. Could it be a bulging cervical disc? I know it is impossible to say without an MRI, but if anyone has had any similar experiences I would love to hear that I am not the only one with something like this.
