    Constant Headaches

I Think the only reason for posting this thread is to convince myself that Im not the only person who has constant daily headache, and to talk to people who are the same Up until October last year I never had headache, but now, well. From waking up to going to bed I have headache, granted some days are better than others, altho it never goes away, some days are just more manageble, today I have a really alful tight headache with sharp pains at the side of my head, Ive been back and forth to the doctors and at last next week I have an appointment at the hospital! Which I think might settle me a little as I know it sounds silly but I was convinced I was going to die and still have those thoughts, then reading stories about people who have died with brain tumours. Ive had so many different pain killers and tablets and the doctor keeps saying take the painkillers all the time, but they arent working so Ive stopped taking them as I dont see the point! I also get pains in my chest and down my arms, I know the pains in my neck will be realated to the headaches as the doctor said it's a tension headache, but how can the pains in my chest be, but the doctor says so! Mmmm! Its really getting me down, Im just not the same person I was before these headaches started last year! Anyone else feel the same, been the same? would really like some encourging words.

    Re: Constant Headaches

that is EXACTLY what i have been feeling, everyday I have a headache its just annoying me so much, I never used to get headaches at all until february this year where I have no idea why it came. I have been back and forth to the hospitals and doctors and since they just give me tablets (that dont even work) I keep thinking Im going to die or I have a brain tumour, Im so paranoid these days. The doc says its tension headache but, how can it last this long? I get visual disturbances all the time which just makes it more aggitating, I also get the pain in the arms and chest which is just fantastic and on top of that I have exams to finish at uni.....grrrr
your not alone, I'm actually quite relieved that you posted.
just keep trying relaxation, meditation, breathing excercises sometimes these help.

    Re: Constant Headaches

I'm feeling the same way for the past 6 yrs. I have chronic tension headaches that are being caused by the muscle spasms in my neck. The SCM muscle is the one that hurts me the most. Some days are manageable and some days are not, but they are constant.
I'm going to begin seeing a massage therapist 2 x a week to help get these muscles under control.

    Tension Headaches

Thanks Locajoker! that makes me feel a bit better, you do worry specially when it's something that you have never had before, Glad Im not the only one, its just the docs dont seem to give any answers and Ive given up now on painkillers as they just dont make any difference, my doc said its tension headache, but in this day and age why isnt there anything that takes the pain away, aaahhhhh I even had 5 sessions of acupuncture, it was very relaxing but I dont feel it helped the headaches very much, was something different to try I suppose! The pains seem to move as well, I can start with it at the bottom of my head and in my neck, then it seems to be in the top of my head then on an evening it starts in the front of my head. How's everyones elses pain, I hate the way I feel, it has really slowed my life down, dont seem to have the energy anymore and most days I feel very woozy, almost like I am on something. Wish I had enough cash to pay private to have a scan so I knew nothing serious was wrong then you never know the tension might ease a little, anyways fingers crossed see what my hospital appointment brings, probably sent away and told to see how I get on with some more tablets!

I think acupucture helped me to relax a little, but didnt seem to cure my headaches, altho everyone is different, so give it a wirl! Having tons of pains in my chest today as well as the normal throbbing headache right at the top of my head! God all I seem to do is moan just lately, but its really getting me down! Its a bit of a relief tho to know I arent the only one!

oh trust me Its gotten to a point where I cant remember the person I was before, or more rather I dont know how to return to the way I was, I cant believe Im letting this take over me, and the doctors are no use either...wow its tension headache so how about helping me get rid of it!

Well i guess support from friends and family helps me, especially when I get paranoid and think Im going to die...I should stop scaring myself.
Take paracetamol for your chest pain or rub some pain relief cream on it.

Head pain is calm today but i can still feel it, funny how mostly the right side is affected....

    Re: Constant Headaches

Yep you would think in this day and age there would be something that could get rid of a tension headache, all the painkiller adverts on tele make me laugh now, "beats pain fast, gets right to the source of pain" o no it doesnt! Ive tried the lot!

Yep family and friends do help and I think when your mind is taken off it even tho you are still in agony, its helps!

Well today Ive had pain from waking up till well its nearly time for bed, and the lovely pain is still here! Its not usually too bad when I wake up but for the last few days its been from the start to the finish of my day mine is more in the back of my head at the mo, almost like someone is trying to open it up. Such a great feeling, I know the doc has kept saying, that these tension headaches will disappear as fast as they came on. So patronising! Roll on that day, god how fanastic would that be not to wake up with a bloody HEADACHE!

    Re: Constant Headaches

I have headaches everyday too. It's not always horrible throbbing "I need to lay down" headaches, but they start of dull and get worse throughout the day. I wake up with one and go to sleep with one. I have been doing some reading on the possible causes of these headaches. I'm only 20 and in college, so I thought it could be stress, but even when I wasn't stressed about anything and just relaxing I had one. I then started to wonder if it was migraines, but I am not sensitive to the light or anything really and don't get nauseated. Then, I noticed that some of the pain from these headaches is in my ears. It almost feels like an ear ache and I was also having trouble chewing food. Somebody then suggested to me that it was TMJ. I looked up a bunch of info online about it and the symptoms match. Oh, and I also went to several doctors to find out why I was having these horrible headaches all the time and they could never give me a straightforward answer. Like you guys, they just gave me lots of painkillers that were pointless because they didn't solve the problem. Anyways. the point for all my rambling was to say do you guys clench your teeth or grind your teeth? I don't necessarily know that TMJ is my problem, but I sympathize with you guys and hope you find what causes these headaches for you

    Re: Constant Headaches

Wow im glad i found this site! i have had constant headaches since i was 13 (im now 28) They seemed to of gotten worse with my pregnancys my daughter is now 9 months old and i had them when i first got preg which of course i couldnt take anything. after she was born they got worse. on my left temple and through my left eye everyday. at least twice a week i was throwing up. then i was expiriencing the the chest pain and arm pain as well. Doctor put me on HBP didnt work. Well 16 days ago i was put on TOPAMAX ohhh my gosh...THANK THE LORD i have been headache free for 16 days. after having migraines EVERY SINGLE day for a year and a half. SO for all of you that have them PLEASE ask your doctor for this medicine. You take it every night before going to bed. mine started working that night i took it. i normally would wake up with one and i didnt. Theres a few side effects but the only one i have gotten is a little dizziness but you take it before bed anyways so it doesnt matter. i recommend this pill for everyone. i know how it is to have these awful things every single day. i now feel like a new person. Hope this info helps you.

    Re: Constant Headaches

Since you also have pain down your arms maybe it is related to a pinched nerve or something like that. I know when I have a tension headache the pain can radiate down my shoulders or different areas that the pinched nerve affects. Good luck and you are SOOOO not alone!!!
    Take care,
    Drew

I have had headaches for six and a half years straight. Tension/Cervicogenic/Migraine - types.

Muscle relaxers are one of the only thing that helps me. I still get migraines, but my days of having tension headaches every day are gone. I take Norflex 2x a day, and like I said that has helped alot with the headaches. Heat helps too.

    Re: Constant Headaches

I also have headaches daily and I have for many years now. I am 30. I've been to several doctors. I've been put on meds for stress to see if maybe that would help. So far nothing that I have taken has helped. I have had test done. Doctors are saying they think they are tension. I have an appointment with a specialist. If it can't be cured I atleast want something I can take daily to prevent a headache from coming on.
