    Post Chronic Floating Headache-Need Insight

I have had a variety of types of headaches. They occur in different places and I don't see a clear pattern to them. My most common headache is a dull ache in my right temple that causes me to feel lethargic and a bit queezy. Just makes is hard to do anything. I do get cluster headaches, migraines on rare occassion and tension bands almost daily. The pain can be on any part of my head from temples to the back of my neck, top of my head, forehead, eyes etc.

I have been to three neurologists, had sinus surgery, three years of allergy shots, chiropractic, acupuncture, gone to a TMJ specialist and pretty much anything else you can think of. I've taken dozens of medications and had several "block" procedures done. I'm sure I'm forgetting something, but nothing has seemed to work. It is a mystery.

I just started homeapathy and will report back on how that works. I am also considering going to the Mayo clinic for a team approach to the problem.

Does anybody else out there have consistent daily headaches and has found relief? If so, what/how? This condition is zapping my energy and passion for anything.

Thanks for any help/insight you can provide.

I am on a Migraine Management Program (4 years)
    Topamax - 50mgs
    Vit B2 - 400mgs
    Baby Asprins
    Zomig Nasal Spray
    Breyers Vanilla Ice Cream

I keep a Migraine Diary, *try* not to eat the migraine trigger foods (love chocolate) & take daily naps.

A sever snowstorm is expected in my area in a few days. So right now I am expiercing the symptoms of a *Migraine Attack*. Right now I am walking around w/an old fashion ice bag on top of my head to counter attack it.
When the *attack* happens, it will not be so bad (I will not be bedridden for 24 hours in a darken/silenced house). I will be able to "function" w/just one shot of Zomig, a bowl of Breyers & just maybe get to peek out the blinds to watch the snowfall.

Hope you find relief soon. Good luck at the Mayo Clinic.

Have you ever tried IV therapy? There is an excellent specialist in Dallas who does IV therapy. I know I can't mention his name but do a google search on pain specialist and migraine specialist. He often consults for About.com. and is very good. I go to him and the individulized care is amazing and the treatment approach is aggressive and thorough. Their goal is to get you functional again and they will not give up until you are. Trust me the trip would be well worth the $$. They usually guarantee a 50% reduction in pain - which fo some people is a tremendous improvement. I know it is for me - a daily HA sufferer.

I have had very good response to the IV therapy. Currently I am off work on a Leave of Absence under this Dr's care for 3-6 months. And just last week I was 4 days HA FREE!!! That alone is AWESOME!!! Last week I had IV ketamine but that was something new. Usually they give me magnesium, deximethisone, Robaxim (Sp?) (a muscle relaxer) and sometimes Reglan if I'm nauseated. Sometimes I get IV Lidocaine which is the best treatment for me and usually lasts about 7-10 days. If i have any HA's, the worst the will get is up to a pain level 6 after the Lidocaine.

So if you have the money and are willing to try something new, come on up to Dallas!

    Kappa,

Have you ever tried daily beta-blockers...propranolol (Inderal) or atenolol?
