i have had a continuing headache for the last 4 days. what should i do?

This depends mainly on your headache signs but it may be a tension headace results from being stressed,you should relax yourself & you can take a combination drug of paracetamole with other analgesics when needed

There is really no such thing as a "tension" headache. You are suffering from migraine unfortunately. It may be caused by hormonal imbalance - it is "that time of the month" or even mid-cycle (ovulation)? You may need to look into getting some estradiol supplementation. My hormonal headaches are very hard to get rid of. I can take Advil with not much luck. Then I move on to Vicodin and try to sleep it off. It is hormonal though, it will usually return after the medication wears off. That is why estrogen replacement is usually the best bet.

First off I hope you are feeling better??
Secondly, if this were to happen to you again, if it were me, I would seek medical help asap. You could have been in Status Migrainous. That is a migraine attack that has lasted more than 72 hours without a pain free interval of 4 hours. I have been told by my nerologist and by ER staff that it is nothing to play with when you reach this point...

Hi, I have had migraines for as long as I can remember. And when I don't have a migraine that I am in bed for days I have chronic daily tension type headaches EVERYDAY!! Unfortunately, I have given up on going to the ER b/c they aren't equipped (as nice as they are) to handle migraines. They give morphine or other HEAVY narcotics which cause rebound headaches. So you can take 4 motrin, Liquigels, they work best b/c they disperse and work the fastest (800 mg) wait 8 hours until you take more! and lay down with an ice pack. Also ask your primary for a NEUROLIGIST WHO SPECIALIZIES IN HEADACHES.... Ive been too many regular neuros until Ive learned what I had to ask for one who deals with mainly headaches. taking too many meds. will cause rebound headaches though. Good Luck!!
