Post Stabbing Pains On Top Of Head

This afternoon it started, I got a pain on the top, a little to the right side of my head. This was 6 hours ago and it comes on and off. I don't have a headache though, just sharp, stabbing pains that when they come are pretty bad. I don't mind the pain, but this is scaring me. I don't have other symptoms like light sensitivity or fever, or nausea, anything that would indicate a hemorrhage, stroke or something serious. I know I have felt this before but not all day. What could this be, and has anyone had this?

    Hi,

Does the stabbing pain feel like lighting striking your head at all? How long does the pain last?

    Take Care,

    Starr

No, not like lightning, just sharp. The pain lasts for a few seconds only then wil stop for a half hour, sometimes more, sometimes less, then again. Now it's morning and I'll see what happens. Any clues?

    Hi,

The pain I get it very sharp, like a stabbing pain, but the only way I can explain it is like lightening, does it bring you to tears? my last for a few seconds and comes and go's? sound like yours at all? My are extremely painful, I was told on the TMJ board it could be nerve damage, I have to still get it check out...

    Take Care,

    Starr

Ginn, I am not having the problem anymore. It was just that weeked, and I was very stressed. I saw a neurologist and he said it's called an icepick headache. You can ook it up on google and see if it sounds like what you have. Being you've had this for many months, it may be a good idea for you to also see a neurologist. Sometimes they do a cat scan or MRI to make sure there's nothing wrong. Please let me know on this board if this thread is still up. Good luck!
