my daughter has what they call cyclic migranes at 10 mo. they started she curles in a fetal position and vomits if moved her stomach cramps, dizzyness, light sensitive, sweats, flushed skin, unable to open eyes for very long. thats when its on the left side and last as long as10 days. If on the right side sever head pain, lasts 4 days or less.

Is there anything we can do different we have tried to stop them but no meds have worked on her. She is now 15.

Re: migranes

Have you tried Periactin as a preventative?

In an accute attack, metoclopramide, prochlorperazine or promethazine might be helpful, if combined with a dose of ibuprofen.

Meteclopramide and prochlorperazine dont cause drowsiness, promethazine does, so a dose of that might help the child sleep the attack away.

A dose of Imitrex may be worth trying.

If all else fails, a small dose of Thorazine given either by injection or suppository can stop the vomiting and sedate the patient and allow them to sleep off the attack.
