Headaches everyday, something bad??

I am a 26 year old female with constant headaches now for the past 3 months. They vary in intensity in that some days they are just a dull ache and other days they are very severe. I initially thought they were tension headaches but they don't seem to be going away. It feels like pressure on my head everyday, some days its in my temples, some days its behind my eyes. Some mornings I just wake up with a headache and it seems to get better once I get up, and other days I'm fine in the mornings and it begins after work.
I have had 3 major episodes of vertigo that sent me to the ER which was diagnosed simply as "BPV" and I experience occacsional dizziness with my headaches along with nausea. I went to my doctor and she tested my blood for pretty well everything and nothing came back. She said my b12 was a little low but not below normal or anything and didn't seemed concerned.
I feel very fatigued everyday, lethargic and just plain lazy. I'm sick of taking pain medications (advil) everyday and my doctor looks at me like theres nothing wrong with me??? I've tried all kinds of stress relievers, I eat well, drink plenty of water and exercise about 3-4 times a week.
Any advice??? This is really starting to interfere with my life and I am missing a lot of work. HELP.

Sounds like you might need to look into seeing some specialists for additional tests, but unfortunately it's not easy to say where to start! For the headaches, you may want to start with a neurologist. I started with one but then found a headache specialist in my city that would help me get to the root cause. The other symptoms you mentioned can definitely be part of the headaches. I'm quite tired all the time and ache a lot. I also plan on getting a full thyroid panel done to make sure I'm not hypothyroid, because a regular blood test only checks the TSH levels and not the full thyroid check.

One of the things I noticed from your post is that you take Advil every day. If you take it regularly, you will likely develop even more headaches! My neurologist told me that since I was taking so much Advil, I was pretty overdosing myself on it and I was getting a lot of rebound headaches that were every day and never seemed to fully stop. For days when my headaches were bearable and not severe, I took nothing except maybe had a little bit of caffeine (my doctor said caffeine is fine if I don't notice it causing the headaches, but to keep it only in reasonable amounts - no full pots of coffee a day). I got prescriptions to take for my migraines since those caused me to miss a lot of work days and made me concerned. Unfortunately though, with vomiting during migraines, the pills might just come back up! I would suggest writing down any concerns, questions, etc and taking them to your appointment with you so they can find what will work best!

I understand how frustrating the vertigo is too! I injured my neck from sleeping on my stomach. I had been fine with it for so long, but one day I guess there was just too much pressure on how my neck was and I had some disc bulges. I had considerably more problems after this happened, but I had constant sinus pressure and vertigo from the pressure that must have been building up in there. I still have a lot of ear ringing and fullness, which also goes hand in hand with vertigo, but supposedly this can time some time to fully go away.

I hope you can see someone soon to help you get things figured out! Some neurologists will want you to keep a headache journal with a description of how each day is and your symptoms... so you might want to look into doing this before you go to speed up the process! Good luck!

tUrRrRa is very right about the rebound headaches.

Personally I would get a headache diary off of the internet and start tracking your headaches and try to get in to see a neurologist. As I understand cluster headaches are one variety that happen frequently and can be behind the eyes.

Re: Headaches everyday, something bad??

this is a silly question but have you been in a car accident within the last year?

TuRurRa left a good post too about other tests.

Some tests I have had are:

X-rays of the cervical spine, neck to check structure and position

MRI, CatScan, MRA

Hope some ideas help. It can be a frustrating journey. Just know you are not alone.

My neurologist also checked me for Lyme disease and carbonmonoxide.

Re: Headaches everyday, something bad??

I was having the same problems and thought maybe I had a brain tumor or something. My OBGYN referred me to a neurologist. She told me that I was taking WAY too much over the counter drugs (Advil, Tylenol ect..) and was bascially killing my liver. I started taking a preventative medication and got a prescription for headaches.

I had a hard time coming off of Tylenol and Advil. I would have headaches if I didnt get my "fix." I didnt realize it was happening but if I did not take it every day it would trigger a headache. I bascially had to take it not to have a headache but would get a headache anyways it just wouldnt be as bad if I didnt take it. Hopefully that makes sense.

Re: Headaches everyday, something bad??

for me basically, tylenol don't work at all, even as a scrip w/codine.

my OTC of choice is ibuprophen. I could use it for a headache one day, maybe the next, but then the third day it won't work.

It got to the point I could only use it once a week, but I had a head ache EVERYDAY.

Ever27* your headaches could possibly be caused by the OTC meds rebound. what meds are you starting?
